Our commitment
Pitch A Pal is designed to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who rely on assistive technology. We aim to broadly conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
What we do
- Semantic HTML structure with a single
<main>landmark, descriptive headings, and labeled regions. - A logical heading hierarchy that does not skip levels.
- A “Skip to main content” link for keyboard users.
- Full keyboard navigability, with visible focus indicators on every interactive element.
- Descriptive link and button text, with
aria-labelon icon-only controls. - Form inputs paired with visible labels and accessible error messages.
- Color combinations chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios in our editorial theme.
- Meaningful
alttext on informative images; decorative imagery is marked as such. - Respect for the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting — animations are minimized when requested. - Compatibility with modern screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack) using accessible component primitives.
Known limitations
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. Some third-party embeds, user-generated content, and admin tooling may not yet fully meet our standard. We’re actively working to improve these areas and welcome reports of any barriers you encounter.
